Projects and Campaigns

Contribution of the organization to the work of the United Nations : GADYLP has been involved over the years in creating awareness as per United Nations Observances nationally and internationally through the email list server, internet and various social media like facebook, twitter, whatsapp etc. For example, GADYLP has continuously collaborated with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council and other stakeholders in celebrating United Nations days annually like International Youth Day on August 12th, International Human Rights Day on December 10th, International Volunteer Day on December 5th, World Health Day on April 7, Holocaust Day on January 27th, Nelson Mandela Day on July 18th, Environment Day on June 6th etc. In collaboration with The United Network of Young Peacebuilders and the Office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nigeria, GADYLP marked the 2018 International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9, 2018 Abuja , Nigeria. Theme:“Reasons for Corruption in the Nigeria Police – Solution and the way forward”. In collaboration with Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area (AO.L.G.A.), GADYLP marked the International Youth Day, Lagos, Nigeria on August 12th 2019 Theme: “Youth Civic Engagement.” Artkingdom International in collaboration with GADYLP and United Network of Young Peacebuilders , Nigeria Chapter marked Nelson Mandela International Day on July 18, 2020 on line and with zoom meeting because of Covid 19 pandemic. at the Organisation Secretariat 18 Idimu Road Egbeda bus stop , Lagos, Nigeria. Theme:“ Take action , inspire change "

Participation in meetings of the United Nations : Our NGO representatives took part very well in COP 24 also known as Katowise Climate Change Conference in Katowice , Poland 2- 14 December 2018 organised by United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Futhermore , Our representatives participated actively in COP 25 , otherwise known as United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Madrid , Spain 2 to 13 December 2019 organized by United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).” Representatives of GADYLP participated virtually in the Sixty-Fifth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), 15 to 26 March, 2021 United Nations Headquarters, New York, USA. Theme: “ Women's full and effective participation and decision making in public life , as well as the elimination of violence , for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls “. GADYLP representatives participated in United Nations 9th Session Conference of the States Parties against Corruption 13 -17 December 2021 , Sham El Sheikh , Arab Republic of Egypt .Organized by the United Nations office on Drug and Crime (UNODC)Our delegates participated actively in COP26 otherwise known as Glasgow Climate Change Conference October 31 - 12 November 2021 in Glasgow , Scotland , United Kingdom . GADYLP Delegates participated very actively in the last Conference on Climate Change otherwise known as COP28 in Dubai , United Arab Emirate. November 30 to December 12 2024. GADYLP had over 15 delegates who participated in person and 11 delegates who participated on-line.etc.

Cooperation with United Nations bodies: In collaboration with Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission ( ICPC) United Nations Office of Drug and Crime (UNODC) Abuja ,Nigeria , GADYLP markes International Anti-Corruption Day ,December 9 annually with promotional materials provided by UNODC including but not limited to the Mission , Vission Objectives of UNODC distributed to participants. GADYLP Office in Lagos helped to mobilize and sensitize youth to participate actively in the United Nations- oriented events organised by UNDP ,WHO , IMO etc.

Initiatives taken by the organization in support of the Millennium Development Goals / Sustainable Development Goals: Before 2014, GADYLP has been observing the World Environment Day on June 5th each year referring to Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 7. With the introduction of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015, GADYLP switched over to SDG 13 and others in continuation of its track records over the years on mitigating the effect of Climate Change. In collaboration with Awuwo Odofin Local Government Area, GADYLP has trained youth in tree planting and has planted and nurtured over 11,000 Trees. In addition to Goal 13 GADYLP has made some marks on Goal 4 : Education and Youth. Just last year that is June 2023 GADYLP in collaboration with a sister ECOSOC Status NGO United Nations of Youth Network Nigeria (UNOY ) facilitated a Side Event in the United Nations Conference on Climate Change which took place in June 5 to 15 2023 in Bonn Germany .Moreover GADYLP in collaboration with UNOY presented a Side Event and ran an Exibition Booth in the United Nations Conference on Climate Change otherwise known as COP28 in Dubai UAE December 2023. These activities on Climate Change support UNOY and GADYLP track records on SDG 13 which is Climate Change. Furthermore , GADYLP ,UNOY and Odimegwu OBI Foundation for Youth on Integrity and Justice ( OFYIJ) partnered last year ( September 21 to 22 ) 2023 to mark United Nations International Day for Peace in GADYLP corporate Office at Egbeda Lagos. Part of the activities of the Day was organizing essay competitions and Debates for Young People on the following topics thus : Peace and Conflict Resolution , Human Rights , Corruption ,Criminal Justice , Elections and Electoral practices etc. These topics belongs to SDG 16 which revolves around Peace , Justice and Strong Institution.Hence it is right to say with certainty that UNOY and GADYLP have enough capacity for SDG 16.
